It's been an amazing and exhausting two days. Amazing because of the gorgeous tombs and sights. Exhausting because of the blazing heat.
I slept in this morning, which was a mistake to the extent that sleeping in can ever be a mistake. My agenda for the day was to see the fabled Temples of Karnak, the largest religious building ever built. It's a huge complex that takes hours to tour. By sleeping in, I left myself no choice but to tour it in the blazing mid-afternoon heat. My late afternoon felucca ride and evening Temple of Luxor visit were much more pleasant.
I am less than an hour from a sleeping train back to Cairo, where I will take an early bus to Mt. Sinai for a sunset climb. May not have internet access for a few days.
